An American-diner style booths with a modern touch, West Corner is a sweet little corner cafe with great views out onto the well-reknowned Stevenson Square in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering options for all meals of the day. A great, strong coffee and fresh orange juice set the bar high for the food, and it was matched. I opted for the eggs hollandaise – homemade hashbrowns with cream cheese, smoked salom and spinach, topped with two poached eggs and a hollandaise suace. It was delightful, and the eggs were perfectly cooked. My friend had the Farmhouse Omlette – a three egg omletted with smoked chicken, ham, mushrooms, red leicester and cheddar cheese with tomato relish, side salad and a slice of toast with butter. It was so big he couldn’t finish it all. The omlette was devide though and full of flavour.

The ingredients/the wine/the prices

As descrbied on their menu, all of the meats are supplied from the butcher’s quarter on Tib Street and sourced from within a 20 mile radius of Manchester, while all of the bread is supplied from the local bakery Lovingly Artisan. The ingredients tasted fresh and flavourful. For a brunch menu, the pricing was very good, and you defintely got your money’s worth for it as well.

The service/the waiters/the owner

What a pity that the service does not accompany the high quality of the cooking. Greated by a host, they quickly sat us at our table with a little less than friendly smile. After seating us, she failed to stay and let us know about how to order, she sadly just walked off. The food was served quickly, but sadly not too friendly service.

Overall, despite the slightly angry service, I would return to the restaurant as the food was incredible. I would recommend the restaurant as the food and drinks were entirely of flavour and taste, and would like to go during the evening to try the cocktails at some point. The type of person that would enjoy this restaurant are young professionals looking for tasty, flavour-filled food for a good brunch.
