As part of my mocktail series, where I try to find the best mocktails in Manchester, I was lucky enough to be invited down to The Botanist in Deansgate and try their menu.
Imagine stepping foot into the Garden of Eden, but with mocktails… Welcome to The Botanist.
With plants around every corner, you will feel like you’ve stepped off the grey streets of Manchester and into a haven. The bartenders can whip up a special cocktail for you in seconds while you relax in the greenhouse. Don’t worry; they have heaters out there so you won’t get cold in the typical Manchester weather.
A notable factor in the interior has to be the chandeliers. Each Botanist has one, but all with a slightly different theme. With cut glass goblets, jugs and lamps hanging from the ceiling, it creates quite a statement in the room.
The cocktail menu is very impressive, hosting a massive range of gins as well as some Instagramable smokin’ teapots. But don’t let them distract you from the tasty mocktails available, made with fresh juices and fruits.
I tried two of the mocktails – ‘All the Greens’ and ‘Berry Good Times’.
‘All the Greens’ (£4.75) is such a refreshing mocktail, made with fresh mint, kiwi and ginger, with a splash of apple and lemon. All boosted with a plant-powered elixir. The mixture of mint, ginger with the apple is so uplifting that as soon as the glass was empty, I wanted another one! I’d definitely recommend this mocktail for anyone looking for a juice pick-me-up.
You get all the berry goodness from the ‘Berry Good Times’ (£4.75) mocktail, made with fresh blueberries, blackberries, mint and a touch of raspberry syrup. It is then shaken with apple and cranberry juice and garnished with a sprig of mint. This rich purple concoction will leave you feeling full and juicy.
