Hello, my lovely readers. It’s May. Where has this year gone already? It was only yesterday we were welcoming and toasting the new year. Fast forward five months, we’ve had a world pandemic and are all stuck inside.
My birthday is in May, so this is particularly upsetting for me. Nevertheless, I’ll find a way to make it work – I always do.
I thought I’d start the month as I mean to go on, which is writing on my blog more and writing down my goals. I have a lot I want to achieve now that my American classes are nearly over. I have so much time on my hands, and I may as well use it to my benefit. So, let’s get on with my May goals.
Finish my tapestry
As mentioned in previous blog posts, I am learning tapestry and making a pillow for my newly decorated bedroom. I’m so close, and I can’t wait to make it into a pillow and put it pride of place on my bed. I want to finish it and turn it into a pillow by the end of this month.
Finish ‘Once Upon a Time’
I have been watching ‘Once Upon A Time’ since just after it came out in 2011. Once Upon a Time is Fairy Tale Land. It’s filled with magic, monsters and all of the characters we all know from stories growing up. … But unlike the “happily ever after” you may have heard about, their stories continued, and The Evil Queen cast a Dark Curse over the land… This is Storybrooke. It’s a brilliant series that has all the story tale characters we love, like Prince Charming, Captain Hook, the Wicked Witch of the West, Rumplestiltskin. I started and stopped watching the series, and then forgot what happened, so I went back to the beginning to start it over. But, I am finally getting through it and loving the stories. I have one more season to watch, and I’ll be on to the next one. What series should I watch next? Please give me some suggestions while I wait out quarantine.
So I’ve been a bit lacklustre with my exercise recently. The British sunshine has come and gone, and it’s back to classic English weather – rain. I haven’t done as much walking this week as I would have hoped. But I am going to start doing more indoors workouts and start dancing more. Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean I can stop working out. May will be a fitness month.
Talk to More Friends
In a time when communication couldn’t be more accessible, sometimes we don’t take the opportunity to reach out to old friends and catch up. I am going to try and talk to an old friend each day. It could be a quick text conversation or an hour-long FaceTime. Either way, the effort to check in with friends and have a conversation about how they are doing in these unprecedented times is so important.
Create My Legacy
I am going to track my month by taking a photo each day. It could be a good day or a bad day. Nevertheless, I will take a picture of the highlight of my day, and that will help me with memories when I look back at this time in years to come.
While I am in isolation and have no outgoing spending, I am going to save as much money as possible. There is no need for me to buy anything new, so I’m going to look at my finances and look at where I can limit my spending.
Start preparing for my final year.
In September, I will start my final year at Manchester Metropolitan University. I have to study lots of media law and a lot of different elements to learn. I have my reading list for the final year, so this girl is about to get very geeky and do all the required reading before the year has even begun. I am going to know all the laws and feel like Elle Woods at Harvard Law. I’m joking, but there will be lots of highlighting and colour coordinated textbooks.
While I have the time, I’m going to pamper myself once a week. It will be my downtime, where I can reflect on the week, and the week to come. Facemask, a long relaxing bath and an early night with a movie. Perfection.
I will write down three things I am grateful for each day. I will do this before I go to bed, to end the day with on a good and happy note.
